Cycle across England through the Lake District and
over the Pennines to the North Sea
Combining cycling along the Cumbria Cycle Way with the popular C2C
cycle path experiencing a superb weeks cycling amidst great English
landscapes in the Lake District and the Pennines. You'll pedal through
some of the best scenery the Lake District has to offer through Coniston
and Grasmere before reaching Keswick, where you join the official
C2C cycle route. Leaving the lakes, you'll follow a series of up and down over the Pennines, right across high
moorlands with their ancient lead mines before reaching the industrial and urban mouth of the River Wear at
Sunderland. The daily distances are generally short so that you can find your legs and enjoy the many off road
options or visit teashops, attractive pubs or the odd castle, museum and even the historic cathedral city of
Durham. With the majority of the trail following minor roads and cycle paths, you don't need to worry too much
about traffic.
