Cycle through the heart of England in the Cotswolds
Honey‑coloured stone villages, open Wolds, valleys, Roman roads and
welcoming inns are the background to this lovely cycle. Our tour starts in
Cheltenhamwith its Regency buildings and beautiful gardens. From here the
first day's ride is a circular tour to Churchdown Hill for views over the valley.
The second day takes you over the top of the Wolds, through Duntisbournes
and across the River Dunt's fords. An easy ride from Frampton Mansell
continues through the Cotswold Water Park to reach Bibury ‑ described
by William Morris as the most beautiful village in England. You will visit
Chedworth Roman Villa, and Guiting Power. You will pass through many
attractive villages including Broadwell, Bledington, and Naunton with its
famous Dovecote that once housed a thousand birds.

Aweek 's walk in southern England's picturesque Cotswolds
Officially designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Cotswold
l
andscape is an entrancing mixture of parkland, cultivated fields with
dry‑stone walls of Jurassic limestone and patches of unspoilt woodland.
With almost all of the cottages, farmhouses and villages passed on the trail
made of stone, the scenery blends with the structures creating a delightful
f
usion of natural and man made beauty. About half of the trail, from
Stratford‑upon‑Avon to Winchcombe, coincides with the Cotswold Way, a
102 mile Long Distance Path that is claimed to be the best waymarked in
England. Staying in a selection of handpicked B&B's and guesthouses whose
hosts welcome you each evening including the famous Pudding Club Hotel in
Mickleton, this is a perfect introduction to walking in the English countryside.
