A family adventure to explore the coast and countryside of
Catalonia by Bike
Experience the subtle landscapes and interesting villages on a gentle
cycle through Catalonia, specially designed for families. Ride across
nearly flat or gently rolling terrain, from the green countryside near
Girona to the azure Mediterranean Sea. Pedal back into history, as you
ride through Roman archways and Medieval squares. Visit two museums
dedicated to the fabulous art of Dalí. Discover the ancient history of
Iberians and Romans who inhabited the area. Marvel at sturdy town walls,
while ancient watchtowers guide you through fields of sunflowers and
wheat. Cycle the Ter River Delta and discover the rich fauna of protected
wetlands at Aiguamolls. Once out at the coast, you'll enjoy sandy beaches,

A cycling adventure in Catalonia from the foothills of the
Pyrenees to the Mediterranean
This is a tour exploring the interior of Catalonia in the north‑eastern
reaches of Spain. This is a distinct region of green mountains, quiet
byways, sleepy villages and popular coastal destinations. Add the sights of
two great cities, the distinct Catalan culture and traditions and you have
a very varied cycling holiday. Spin your pedals around the foothills of the
Pyrenees, then all the way to the coast for a swim in the Mediterranean.
This is a reasonably undemanding tour but with enough flexibility in the
itinerary to allow the more energetic cyclist to make some extra daily
extensions. No matter how far you pedal you can enjoy some of the finest
cuisine to be found anywhere on the Iberian Peninsula! Ripoll, where our
journey begins, is a medieval town with a stunning Romanesque monastery
and has claim to being the birthplace of Catalonia. Right from the start
you can enjoy gentle pedalling along a disused railway line, now converted
into a graded cycling trail all the way down to the Mediterranean. There is
time to visit Figueres and the famous Salvador Dali museum. The last two
nights are spent in Barcelona the exciting, proudly independently spirited
Catalan capital.
