A walking tour with a difference including all the best scenery, history,
traditions and gastronomy of western Andalucia. The sparkling Atlantic
Ocean washes the golden sands of the Costa de la Luz with its dunes,
salt‑pans, traditional craft fishing and sea birds. Cadiz city, protected
from attack on its peninsula, has controlled for 3000 years the seaways
and the entry to the Guadalquivir, Andalucia's biggest river. Nearby is
Jerez, renown for its wines and its flamenco dance. A world away from
the bustle of Seville is the Sierra de Aracena Natural Park, with cork‑oak
forests, raptors, Iberian pigs and traditional white villages, as well as a
civilization dating back fifty centuries.

An exhilarating walk in the Alpujarras, through Moorish
villages and stunning mountain landscapes
F rom the intriguing city of Granada to the lofty heights of the Alpujarras, the
fo cus is firmly on culture and mountain landscapes. Small and surprisingly
cosmopolitan, Granada offers a bizarre mixture of ancient history andmodern
living. There will be time to visit the Alhambra, the spectacular Moorish
monument which is a must‑see. After two nights in the city, you will move
u p into the mountains, to the Alpujarras. This beautiful area still reflects its
Moorish origins, recalling times when groups of 'Moors' inhabited these hills
resisting the Christian Reconquest. In this fascinating historical context, the
A lpujarras' high elevation makes for an ideal alpine experience with the snowy
p eaks of Sierra Nevada, as a backdrop. You will enjoy dramatic views from
the enchanting white‑washed villages as you walk among terraced fields and
along the irrigation channels which survive from the Moorish era.
