Explore the magnificent landscapes and flora of the Haute
Pyrenees on foot
Based in the traditional village of Barèges (1250m), discover the numerous
trails through the Pyrenees National Park, including to the famous Cirque
de Gavarnie, Pont d'Espagne and the Vignemale, above Cauterets. In
the company of a qualified mountain guide, you will discover the history,
language and culture of the region as well as the geology and bird life. The
walks range from introductory (on our 'gentle' weeks) to more demanding
('intermediate' weeks) on alternate weeks throughout the walking season.

The traditional French village of Barèges is perfectly positioned for exploring
the valleys, villages and famous viewpoints of the Pyrenees. From gentle
mountain walks on well graded trails taking in the breathtaking views of
snowy peaks and icy mountain streams, to exploring the well known sights
such as the Pic du Midi Observatory (2877m), the UNESCO World Heritage
Site of the Cirque de Gavarnie and the Col du Tourmalet one of the most
gruelling Cols on the Tour de France, and visiting village markets, all the
elements make for an exceptional week. At night experience the hospitality
of your hosts with hearty mountain cuisine and the camaraderie that is all
part of an adventure of this kind.
